History Makers kicked off this morning with Daniel Goldhagen's keynote address - a fascinating look at how he has reworked his latest book, Worse Than War into a full-length documentary film. Always controversial, Mr. Goldhagen did not disappoint all those who were there to hear him discuss his work. Goldhagen was then gracious enough to remain at the conference to sign copies of his book for our delegates.
Making Old History New and Future of Archives in a Digital Age both raised questions about making history programming interesting and relevant to the next generation. The impact of new technology in both the marketing and the production of history and current affairs television and film has been a persistent theme not only in sessions, but across all of our exhibitors and face-to-face meetings as well.
Other highlights of the day included Lion TV's Richard Bradley and Bill Locke discussing history television for kids, and the powerful panel discussion about the Depiction of Gay and Lesbian History.
